Parish Records
The records immediately below refer to a family whose origins we don't know. Nor do we know what happened to them. John WINGETT, the husband of Dinah, was obviously reasonably comfortably off and had left some money to his daughter, Mary and his three grandchildren, issue of his son George. Mary never married but what happened to the three grandchildren? If you know any more about this family please get in touch.

Speculative Tree based on the parish register data
We don't know where this family came from nor where they went. Nor does there to be any apparent link between this family and the branch of the Horrabridge tree which appears in West Teignmouth at about the same time that this family mostly disappears.
However, there may be a link with the family in Marldon because a Dinah WINGETT was a witness at the wedding of Mary WINGETT to James MARE in 1803. The names in bold are those which appear in John WINGETT's will.

1841 Census
Fore St.
This family is part of the Horrabridge tree. John was born in Horrabridge and is the eldest of the seven brothers who moved with their father to Exeter in about 1823 and then on down to West Teignmouth or Shaldon some time between 1837 and 1839. Their dates of births have been roughly estimated from the date of baptism (where known) or census or other data. John's second son grew up to be a musician and fathered most of the "musical WINDEATTs". See my people page. Although John is labelled a plasterer here he declared his occupation as a hellier in Exeter in 1837 when his second son, John Benjamin died age 2. His occupations changed throughout his life as you can see from the following censuses.

LOWER BROOK ST.
This must be the John WINGETT whose will was proved in 1856 and who belongs to the family and speculative tree above. He left his property, (which included Lower Brook St.,) in trust for his daughter Mary. Unfortunately we don't have a birthplace for him which might have helped identify where the family came from?
But does he have any relationship with the John in the family above? It would be tempting to think they are father and son but the father of John the plasterer above was still reported as living with his wife Thomasine in 1851 and, although he also had a daughter Mary, she was married not single.
